Class of 2023- Message from Student Services 8.23

Tue, 08/23/2022 - 3:44pm

Welcome to senior year!!!   Your school counseling team is committed to supporting you through your journey to post high school.  Below are some highlights for families to be aware of.

First day of school for RHS Seniors taking courses at HCC:

Seniors who don’t have a full schedule are still encouraged to attend ADVISORY lessons during period 1 on the first day of school, August 29th. Teachers will be covering important school related senior information during advisory on the first day of school.

Transcript Process

The process to request transcripts  and letters of recommendation has changed (slightly) this year.  The process is more simple than in the past, AND it requires you to follow EVERY step.   Students CAN start this process now and must abide by deadlines!

Step 1:  In Naviance, go to Colleges Tab, then click Colleges I’m applying to.  Add all colleges to which you plan to apply.

Step 2:  In Naviance, go to Colleges Tab, then click on Transcript Manager.  Request a transcript for all schools that require a transcript.

Step 3:  In Naviance, go to Colleges Tab, then click Letters of recommendation.  Add the teacher(s) you have asked to write your letter and specify which colleges you want them to send a letter.  (some colleges only require one letter of recommendation and you need to specify which teacher to send it!)

Step 4:  Submit Transcript Request form Listing all colleges you requested a transcript.

Step 5:  If you are using common app for any schools, match your common application to Naviance.

Senior Information Night:

We are hosting a senior information night on September 1 at 5pm (before the Back to School Night).  The meeting will highlight the transcript and college application process.

Reservoir College Application Checklist:

This document lists all of the steps that must be completed as students navigate through the college application process.

March2Future Events:

Reservoir is proud to be leaders in the March2Future planning and have organized a great series for all students.  Our kick off event is September 7th when we are bringing college admission counselors from Towson, St. Mary’s, UMD, and Virginia Tech to discuss the admission process.

Post High School Planning Calendar

The post high school google calendar houses all events that are related to post high school planning.  Please visit the post high school planning calendar frequently as we update this daily.

Senior Information:

Check out the RHS website- Student Life- Graduating Classes for the most up to date information on senior happenings.

Senior Meetings

All seniors will have an individual meeting with their counselor to discuss graduation requirements and post high school plans.  Some students had this meeting during the summer while others will meet once school starts.  Students will receive a pass to come to student services.

English class Visits:

Counselors will also visit English classes during the 2nd and 3rd week of September to go over Senior Information.  Students at HCC will be seen through other classes or google meets.

Our goal is to support every student in identifying a plan after high school.  Please partner with us in reading our emails and participating in workshops as we support you in finding a path after high school.
