All HCPSS in-person opportunities will remain suspended through winter break, with all instruction continuing virtually, due to the increase of COVID-19 infection rates across the county. In-person special education assessments are also suspended. Additionally, the winter athletic season, previously scheduled to start on December 7, 2020, is postponed until January 4, 2021. Virtual athletics sessions will continue and online registration for winter athletics will remain open via HCPSS Connect. Directions can be found online. Additional information and schedules will be provided to families closer to that time.
There will be no change to meal services, which will continue at all school meals locations on days school is in session.
On November 16, HCPSS originally made the decision to suspend all current in-person opportunities effective Thursday, November 19. Howard County continues to regularly remain above 5% COVID-19 test positivity rate and a case rate of more than 25 per 100,000. HCPSS will regularly monitor health metrics and inform staff of a possible resumption of in-person opportunities after winter break when the health environment permits.
HCPSS takes the safety and well-being of all of our students, staff and families very seriously, and hope that you are staying safe during this difficult time. Please visit the HCHD website for more information about the COVID-19 virus and how to remain safe.
Thank you for your understanding and continued collaboration as we stay safe, healthy and able to focus on teaching and learning.
