Any member of the Class of 2020 is invited to audition to speak at the Graduation Ceremony or to be the Senior Evening of Excellence Emcee. We are looking for seniors interested in participating in either ceremony in a variety of roles.

Process for speaker selection

    Sign up to audition with Ms. Bullock in Room 322, Ms. Allen in the front office or by filling out the google form (Links to an external site.) by Friday, January 31, 2020. You will have to indicate which ceremony you would be willing to participate in and which speaking part you are auditioning for.
    Live auditions: Students will audition in front of a faculty committee. The auditions will be immediately after school on Wednesday, February 12 or Thursday, February 13, 2020 in Room 322.

    Bring 3 extra copies of your speech with you.
    You will be given your exact audition date on Friday, February 7, 2020.

    Video auditions: If for some reason you cannot attend the live auditions, you may submit a video of your speech to Ms. Bullock by sharing it on Google Drive or by sending an email at Jamie_bullock@hcpss.org. Deadline for video submissions is Wednesday, February 12, 2020.
    The faculty committee will discuss the auditions and pick students to participate in the Graduation Ceremony and the Senior Evening of Excellence. It is possible that you may be asked to participate in a call back.
    Letters will be distributed no later than Tuesday, February 25, 2020 informing students of the selections.

Graduation Speech

    Write an original speech that would be appropriate for Graduation.
        Make your speech upbeat, heartfelt, celebratory and reflective.
        It should appeal to a large diverse community audience of students, parents, and school staff members.
        Use Reservoir specific anecdotes.
        Be yourself!
        Maximum time is 4 minutes.

Graduation Ceremony Introduction

    Write an original welcome and introduction for Graduation.
        Length should be 1 - 2 minutes.
        Highlight our school’s theme of unlimited possibilities for all students.

Introduction of Stage Guests for Graduation

    Students will be given a list of names of possible stage guests to read at the audition.
    The list of names will be distributed no later than Friday, February 7, 2020.

Senior Evening of Excellence Emcee

    Write an original welcome and introduction for the Senior Evening of Excellence.
        Length should be 1 - 2 minutes.
        Highlight fun memories of your time at Reservoir and the Senior Class.
